The Formula 2 Championship will return this weekend following a month long break since the Hungarian race. There are five rounds remaining as the drivers will be heading to Monza, Madrid, Baku, Qatar and Abu Dhabi to close the 2026 F2 season.
Bulgarian Nikola Tsolov leads the Championship by 20 points
There is plenty to look out for as the drivers are battling it out the standings to become champions. As of currently, Nikola Tsolov leads with 167 points, ahead of Gabriele Mini in second with 147 points. Rafael Camara tails with 145 points as Alex Dunne sits in fourth with 108 points. Although some of these gaps seem quite big, with 5 rounds remaining there are still plenty of opportunities to gain points.
As it stands in the teams championship the top three are Campos, Invicta and MP Motorsport with 261, 187 and 176 points respectively.
Madrid is a new circuit that has never been raced at before so the 11-13th of September could be very interesting as we do not really know what to expect. These drivers will need to learn a whole new track which is definitely challenging. When F3 drivers completed testing there a few days ago there were 19 red flags which gives us an indication of what might be to come.
Furthermore there has been some speculation on if Qatar and Abu Dhabi will go ahead based on the tensions in the Middle East. Obviously removing two rounds from the championship could have a massive impact on how things play out in the standings as there will be less points available for drivers trailing the leader to catch up. Bahrain and Saudi Arabia were cancelled at the start of the season for the same reason so it is not impossible that we could see more cancellations due to the conflict.
