The American claimed the F3 title in the final race of the season, beating Audi junior and championship rival Freddie Slater to the crown.
The former McLaren junior wins the 2026 F3 title
Ugochukwu finished in second place in Madrid to become F3’S first ever American champion. Tuukka Taponen won his maiden F3 race in the second Feature Race, and also became the first Finnish driver to win in the series.
Taponen started on pole and managed to hold position into turn 1. Ugochukwu followed him in second through the race but could not get through on the tight track. A late safety car backed up the pack but Taponen still held his lead to claim his first victory.
P2 was all Ugo needed though. He finished the season on 159 points with Freddie Slater trailing on 145 points. Taponen rounded out the top three from the 2026 season.
Slater and Ugochukwu entered the final race of the season equal on points however Ugo had the advantage as he qualified in 2nd to Freddie’s 8th place. The both finished in their starting positions.
